Threading pipe, round bar, and rod stock on-site means that parts moving through our rolling, bending, or plasma cutting operations can receive their threaded ends without leaving the facility. Pipe threading follows the NPT (National Pipe Taper) standard for the majority of plumbing, mechanical, and industrial piping applications in the United States. NPT threads are tapered, which means the thread engagement tightens as the fitting is turned, creating a mechanical seal without requiring a separate gasket or sealant in many applications. BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) threading is available for export work or applications where the mating fittings follow the British standard. Straight (parallel) threads are cut when the application calls for a mechanical connection rather than a pressure seal — common in structural anchoring, machine assembly, and custom hardware.

Bar threading covers round bar and threaded rod stock. Threaded round bar is used extensively in structural and civil engineering applications: anchor bolts cast into concrete foundations, tie rods in structural frames, tension members in architectural steel assemblies, and custom fasteners for equipment mounting. We cut threads to customer-specified length and pitch on bar stock that has already been cut to length on our plasma table or saw, keeping the work in a single production sequence.

Threading pairs naturally with our other services. Pipe that will carry fluid through a mechanical system often needs to be bent to route through a machine envelope and threaded at both ends for connection to valves, fittings, or equipment ports. Structural round bar used as a tension rod in a curved steel assembly may need to be rolled to a radius on one end and threaded on the other. Anchor bolts for a fabricated base plate assembly are cut, threaded, and delivered with the plate as a complete kit. In each case, combining threading with the adjacent operation reduces the number of vendors involved and the coordination required to get a finished part.
