Channel Rolling

C-channel and MC-channel — easy way and hard way, with proprietary tooling

Pacific Roll rolls and bends structural steel channel for a wide range of applications including curved canopy frames, architectural features, handrail systems, and structural arches. We roll C-channel and MC-channel both the easy way (web vertical, flanges horizontal) and the hard way (flanges vertical, web horizontal).

One of the key differentiators at Pacific Roll is our proprietary tooling developed specifically for channel sections. Standard rolling dies apply pressure to the outer face of a section, which can cause the flanges to spread or the web to buckle — particularly on deeper sections or tighter radii. Our proprietary tooling constrains the section on multiple faces simultaneously, distributing the bending force evenly and preventing the deformation modes that plague shops using off-the-shelf tooling.

The result is a finished part that holds its original cross-section profile through the full arc, requiring little or no straightening or re-working before it goes to fit-up. This tooling advantage is especially significant on channel rolled the hard way, where flange spread is the most common failure mode.

We work from engineer drawings, shop sketches, or customer-supplied radii and arc lengths. Provide your channel designation, material grade, bend radius, and arc length for a detailed quote.
